Changes in Real Estate Commission

What has changed and how it helps home buyers...

As of August 17, 2024, new rules from the National Association of REALTORS® ended blanket, pre-set commission offers in the MLS and require a written buyer-broker agreement before touring.

In plain English: Your buyers agent’s services and fee are spelled out up front, and compensation is no longer “baked in” at the search stage—it’s negotiated as part of your offer (just like price, repairs, and closing costs). The goal is more transparency and choice for buyers.
